Clarence Street
This existing 100 year old villa is situated on a very compact site, the brief was to maximise the outdoor living space whilst maintaining privacy from the neighbours. The back elevation of the house was opened onto a new raised deck. A sculptural privacy screen was created with vertical cedar battens of varying widths, these let natural light through and obscure the view beyond. The balustrade around the remainder of the deck is detailed to be more open towards the rear garden while also making reference to the screen.
